Domestic violence against trans* people in Russia

Domestic violence is a serious problem faced by trans* people that cannot be considered separately from everyday transphobic discrimination. Societal transphobia together with institutional factors such as difficult and inhuman procedures of legal gender recognition (including compulsory operations and sterilization in many countries) and trans* pathologization lead to reduced ability of trans* people to find a job and place to live or contact the police and crisis centers.
