maiz will never leave you!

In December 2017, two of maiz’ major yearly fundings were cut by the Upper Austrian government. Due to this, their longstanding work with migrant women* and sex workers is endangered! But maiz and other interconnected organizations are fighting back! What has been fought for over years must not be destroyed by right-wing politics!

maiz says:
“In reaction to the cutbacks we do not just want to collect money, but rather create new spaces for antiracist, political discussions and for collective action.“

Join us!

In collaboration with maiz the Vienna based maiz-solidarity-group would like to invite you to our series of events „Solidarity and Alliances“.

ATTENTION: Talk with Djamila Taís Ribeiro dos Santos is cancelled!

Luana Hansen will give a speech about hip hop music as a Black LGBTQIA activist coming from Sao Paulo, Brazil, and bringing a narrative of knowledge from the Global South. Her talk in Vienna reconnects not only local but also transnational solidarities.

CV: Luana Hansen is the first DJ, MC, Freestyle and musical producer in Brazil. Owner of the studio, Luana, works independently on her productions, thanks to her knowledge of sound technician. She is the author of the hymn of “Black women’s March of 2015” that happened in Brazil. She is active almost 30 years in the Rap scene. As a feminist, she works hard to raise awareness for female conditions in Hip Hop’s Brazilian Culture, fighting against chauvinism, racism and lesbophobia. In her rimes she addresses female reality, especially her own which is of a lesbian, Black woman of periphery.
