In Serbien entstand 2020 eine Protestbewegung gegen den Raubbau durch internationale Konzerne. Die Bewohner*innen von Gornje Nedeljice, einem kleinen serbischen Ort an der Grenze zu Bosnien-Herzegowina im Jadar-Tal, widersetzten sich vergangenes Jahr Rio Tinto, einem australischen Giganten der globalen Bergbauindustrie. Es geht um Lithium…..es geht um die Zerstörung von Land, um Ausbeutung der Menschen, einmal mehr um Raubbau der Welt für Wachstum und Profite.
In Wien entstand 2020 ebenfalls eine Protesbewegung, eine kleine, aber starke Bewegung gegen die Lobau-Autobahn. Nachdem der Bund den größeren Teil des Autobahn-Baus einstellt, bleibt die Betonköpfe der SPÖ Regierung Wien stur. Um jeden Preis, soll die Stadtautobahn gebaut werden. Es geht um das Wirtschaftszentrum Wiens und Rendite… es geht um ein Festhalten an Autos und Straßen, um eine Festhalten an der Vergangenheit, einmal mehr um Raubbau der Welt für Wachstum und Profite.
Wir wollen gemeinsam über die Proteste sprechen und die internationale Perspektive stärken:

Was haben die Genoss*innen in Serbien gemacht, um eine Massenbewegung zu werden? Was unterscheidet sich zwischen unseren Protesten? Wie sieht die staatliche Einschüchterung dort aus, wie bei uns? Und gibt es gemeinsame Perspektiven?

Die Veranstaltung wird auf englisch stattfinden, eine Übersetzung auf deutsch ist gewährleistet. Nach ca. einer Stunde werden wir unter uns im Camp noch weiter diskutieren (auf deutsch/englisch).

In Serbia, a protest movement against the ruthless exploitation by international corporations emerged in 2020. Last year people from Gornje Nedeljice, a small Serbian town next to the border with Bosnia-Herzegovina in the Jadar Valley, defied Rio Tinto, an Australian giant in the global mining industry. It’s about lithium…..it’s about the destruction of land, the exploitation of people, once again about the ruthless exploitation of the world for profits and economic growth. After the federal government stopped the major part of the highway construction, the heads of the Viennese SPÖ government remain stubborn. At any price, the urban highway should be built. It’s about Vienna as an economic center for Austria and returns on investment… it’s about holding on to cars and roads, about holding on to the past, once more about robbing the world for growth and profits.

What did the comrades in Serbia do to become a mass movement? What is different between our protests? What is state repression like there, what’s it like here? And are there common perspectives?
May 6, 6pm at Lobau Camp. The event will be held in English, translation into German is guaranteed. After about an hour we will discuss further among ourselves in the camp (in German/English).
