No to the murderous EU border regime! Stop the GEAS reform!

On 10 December 2023, there will be ceremonies all over the world to mark the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We are calling for a loud, powerful and creative protest rally on this day, because Austria and the other EU states are trampling on precisely these human rights through mass deportations and the establishment of a murderous border regime. On 12 December, two days after the human rights anniversary, Germany and Austria plan to jointly deport people to Iraq on a charter flight. The police are already trying to arrest people they want to deport. Germany and Austria have recently concluded a deportation deal with the Iraqi state.

On Human Rights Day, we want to take to the streets in solidarity with all those who are currently threatened with deportation and living in fear. With the refugees from Iraq as well as those from Nigeria, Georgia, Pakistan, Turkey, Ghana, India, Gambia, Armenia and all other countries. We want to be loud against the unspeakably racist asylum and migration policy debates in Austria and other EU countries, in which politicians from various parties are only trying to outdo each other in the fastest way to deport people or keep them as far away from EU countries as possible. We want to be loud against the European border regime that is causing thousands of people to die and committing serious human rights violations in the Mediterranean, the Atlantic, the Sahara, the Maghreb states, the Middle East, on the Balkan route and on the EU’s eastern borders. We also want to show loud and clear that the so-called GEAS reform of the European asylum system, which aims to banish asylum seekers to extraterritorial camps, among other things, must not take place under any circumstances.

Nein zum mörderischen EU-Grenzregime! GEAS-Reform stoppen!

Am 10. Dezember 2023 gibt es vielerorts Festakte zum 75. Jahrestag der Allgemeinen Erklärung der Menschenrechte. Wir rufen für diesen Tag auf zu einer lauten, kraftvollen und kreativen Protestkundgebung, weil Österreich und die anderen EU-Staaten genau diese Menschenrechte durch massenhafte Abschiebungen und die Errichtung eines mörderischen Grenzregimes mit Füßen treten. Am 12. Dezember, 2 Tage nach dem Menschenrechtsjubiläum, wollen Deutschland und Österreich gemeinsam Menschen per Charterflug in den Irak abschieben. Die Polizei sucht bereits nach Menschen, die sie abschieben möchte. Deutschland und Österreich haben vor kurzem mit dem irakischen Staat einen Abschiebe-Deal abgeschlossen. Wir wollen am Tag der Menschenrechte die Solidarität mit all jenen auf die Straße tragen, die aktuell von Abschiebung bedroht sind und unter Angst leben. Mit den geflüchteten Menschen aus dem Irak ebenso wie mit denen aus Nigeria, Georgien, Pakistan, Türkei, Ghana, Indien, Gambia, Armenien und allen anderen Ländern. Wir wollen laut sein gegen die unsäglich rassistischen asyl- und migrationspolitischen Debatten in Österreich und anderen EU-Ländern, bei denen sich Politiker*innen verschiedener Parteien nur noch darin überbieten, wie man Menschen am schnellsten abschiebt oder möglichst weit von den Ländern der EU fern hält. Wir wollen laut sein gegen das europäische Grenzregime, das im Mittelmeer, im Atlantik, in der Sahara, in den Maghreb-Staaten, im Mittleren Osten, auf der Balkanroute und an den Ostgrenzen der EU tausende Menschen sterben lässt und schwere Menschenrechtsverletzungen begeht. Wir wollen auch laut und deutlich zeigen, dass die sogenannte GEAS-Reform des europäischen Asylsystems, mit der u.a. Asylsuchende in exterritoriale Lager verbannt werden sollen, auf keinen Fall stattfinden darf.
