Externalized borders: Zur Situation von people on the move in Mexico und im Sahel. Eine Veranstaltung mit Alarme Phone Sahara und cdhFrayMatías

Grenzpolitiken der EU und der USA manifestieren sich in den letzten Jahrzehnten mehr und mehr in einer Externalisierung und Auslagerung von Grenzen. Dazu gehören Praktiken der Kontrolle, Haft, Repression und Push- und Pull-Backs von People on the move. Mit den Verschärfungen durch das neue GEAS (Gemeinsames Europäisches Asylsystem) setzen sich diese fort und spitzen sich zu. Gemeinsam mit der mexikanischen Organisation Centro de Derechos Humanos Fray Matías de Córdova und dem Alarme Phone Sahara diskutieren wir, welche Auswirkungen diese Politiken auf deren Arbeit und die Situation von People on the move in Mexiko und im Sahel haben. Gemeinsam wollen wir fragen: Was sind Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede? Wo zeigen sich Praktiken von Widerstand und Solidarität? Wie können wir Externalisierung von Grenzen global begreifen?

Externalized borders: On the situation of people on the move in Mexico and the Sahel. An event with Alarme Phone Sahara and cdhFrayMatías

EU and US-border politics have increasingly manifested themselves in the externalisation and outsourcing of borders in recent decades. This includes practices of control, detention, repression, push- and pull-backs. The new legislation of the CEAS (Common European Asylum System) continues and intensifies these practices. Together with the Mexican organisation Centro de Derechos Humanos Fray Matías de Córdova and the Alarme Phone Sahara, we will discuss the impact of these policies on their work and the situation of people on the move in Mexico and the Sahel. Together we want to ask: What are the similarities and differences? Where do practices of resistance and solidarity manifest themselves? How can we understand the externalisation of borders globally?
