Javier Areal Vélez (Buenos Aires, 1985) is an experimental music composer, improviser and curator. His recent work focuses on the creation of AI companions for the performance of live improvised music. Javier creates noisy polyrhythms of extra-human complexity that make the most deformed audiences move. He researches human+machine collaborations through the use of samples, synthesis, lights, and mechanical robots. Additionally, Javier has a long career as performer of prepared electric guitar. His characteristic style relies heavily on a primal technique that emphasizes timbre and rhythm over traditional forms, favoring intensity and dynamic contrast.

Radim Hanousek - saxophones and bass clarinet

Jonathan Aardestrup - double bass

Peter Ole Jørgensen - drums

The two Danes Peter Ole and Jonathan joined forces as a duo more than a year ago and since then facilitated several meetings with international guests in Denmark. In February they were visited by the Czech saxophonist Radim Hanousek and that was a magical meeting. The 3 had an instant connection and played 4 concerts for much pleased audiences around Denmark and now we are planning another small tour in Austria, Czech and Croatia this June.

The trio Hanousek, Aardestrup, Jørgensen is by no means playing jazz as you know it, yet there are roots that are clearly heard when the acoustic instruments meet in curious exploration of sonic universes. The 3 experienced improvisers easily find new areas to explore and naturally exchange ideas, rhythms and soundscapes. It’s free improvised music of a high international standard.
