After a very inspiring first screening of the film “What We Fight For”, we, Balkanbrücke, in collaboration with Stop Deportations Vienna, invite you to the next screening “Bürglkopf”. This is the second of three special documentary screenings – followed by conversations with parts of the film team (camera and sound) afterwards!

📖​ Storyline: The Bürglkopf Return Centre is located at an altitude of 1,300 meters, far away on the mountain of the same name in Tyrol. People in the asylum process are supposed to be encouraged to leave Austria with return counseling, but mainly under the pressure of isolation. The idyllic Alpine landscape becomes the setting for a bizarre encounter between refugees, villagers, and tourists, as the nearest mountains in Kitzbühel are primarily used for winter sports. While state-of-the-art gondolas transport tourists from all over the world to the peaks, the residents of Bürglkopf must take a three-hour hike to get from the camp to the valley. The film provides insight into the European policy of isolation, which culminates in return centers and deportation camps.

Nach der ersten, sehr inspirierenden Filmvorführung von „What we fight for“ möchten wir, die Balkanbrücke in Kooperation mit Stop Deportations, euch zu dem nächsten Film „Bürglkopf“ einladen. Das wird der zweite Film in einer Reihe von dreien sein - gefolgt von einer Publikumsdisskusion mit Teilen des Filmteams (Kamera und Ton).

📖 Storyline: Auf 1.300 Metern Höhe befindet sich das Rückkehrzentrum Bürglkopf weit abgelegen auf dem gleichnamigen Berg in Tirol. Menschen im Asylverfahren sollen dort mit Rückkehrberatung, vor allem aber unter dem Druck der Isolation, zur Ausreise aus Österreich bewegt werden. Die idyllische Alpenlandschaft wird zum Schauplatz eines bizarren Aufeinandertreffens von Geflüchteten, Dorfbewohner:innen und Tourist:innen, denn die nächstgelegenen Berge in Kitzbühel dienen vor allem dem Wintersport. Während hochmoderne Gondeln Urlauber:innen aus aller Welt auf die Gipfel befördern, müssen die Bewohner des Bürglkopfs drei Stunden Fußweg auf sich nehmen, um vom Lager ins Tal zu gelangen. Der Film gibt einen Einblick in die europäische Abschottungspolitik, die in Rückkehrzentren und Abschiebelagern gipfelt.
