Viele Linke mögen Gewerkschaften an sich schon. Warum genau sind sich manche nicht mehr ganz sicher -aber Gewerkschaften haben unsere Arbeitsrechte erkämpft und damit fühlen sich dann doch die meisten verbunden. Selbst wenn du keinerlei Interesse an Arbeitskampf hast gibt es in Österreich immerhin die ✨Pflichtmitgliedschaft bei der Arbeiterkammer✨ falls du als Einzelperson Schwierigkeiten im Job hast.

Wofür sollte eine Gewerkschaft eigentlich da sein und welches in Österreich ungenutzte Potenzial haben solche Organisationen? Protestieren lässt sich ja mit jedem beliebigen Zusammenschluss von Menschen. Also warum brauchen wir überhaupt noch Zusammenschlüsse von Arbeiter*innen?

Many left-wingers like trade unions in principle. Some are no longer quite sure why, but trade unions fought for our labour rights, and most people feel connected to that. Even if you have no interest in industrial action, in Austria there is ✨compulsory membership of the Chamber of Labour✨ if you have difficulties at work as an individual.

What should a trade union actually be there for, and what untapped potential do such organisations have in Austria? Protesting can be done with any group of people. So why do we still need workers’ unions?
