Wiener KI-Gespräche // What is ethical AI – and how can we get there?
AI ethics commissions, guidelines, and policy frameworks have proliferated in recent years. They promise a responsible and human-centred approach to rapidly advancing technologies. There is little consensus on what „ethical AI“ would look like – let alone how to get there and who should be involved in developing it. Who defines its parameters, and whose values are embedded or excluded in the process? The fourth edition of Wiener KI-Gespräche brings together perspectives to explore the contested terrain of AI and ethics. Asma Derja represents a grassroots approach dedicated to aligning AI development with human rights and social justice. Sabine Köszegi is a member of the AI Advisory Board of the Austrian Government. What is AI ethics and what needs to be done for it to become more than a buzzword?
