St. Marx für alle - St. Marx für immer! Was tun gegen den drohenden Verlust eines Freiraums?

Statt Wertschätzung für unbezahlte Kulturarbeit und kreative Bereicherung des Stadtlebens zu bekommen, sind Freiräume in Wien einem ständigen Überlebenskampf und Verdrängung ausgesetzt. So wie aktuell die Freifläche in St. Marx, wo mit 10.12. den ansässigen Vereinen die Verträge gekündigt werden um Platz für eine Mega Eventhalle für zahlungskräftige Kundschaft zu machen.

In St. Marx hat sich in den letzten 10 Jahren eine Betongstättn dank der unbezahlten Arbeit vieler Individuen in eine blühende widerständige DIY-Kulturlandschaft entwickelt. Nun soll das alles einer privaten Eventhalle weichen, für die wir auch noch mehrere hundert Millionen Steuergeld zahlen sollen.

Das werden wir so nicht hinnehmen und wir wissen: Wir sind in diesem Kampf für nicht-kommerzielle selbsgorganisierte Räume nicht alleine, wir sind viele! An diesem Abend zeigen wir ausgewählte Clips vom Ort und sprechen darüber, was konkret die nächsten Schritte sind, um diesen kapitalistischen Irrsinn entgegen zu treten.

Am Samstag, 22.11. findet eine Demonstration zugunsten von Freiräumen wie St.Marx und gegen deren Verdrängung durch kapitalistische Raumverwertungspolitik statt. Start der Demonstration ist Samstag 13:00 bei Wien Mitte.

St. Marx for all - St. Marx forever! What to do against the menacing loss of a free space?

Instead of getting appreciation for unpaid culturalwork and creative enrichment of the city, free spaces in vienna are being threatened by expulsion and a figjt for survival. For example the free space in St.Marx Vienna, whose resident associations’ contracts are being terminated with 10.12. to make space for a huge event-hall for exclusive wealthy clientele.

Thanks to the self-organized labour of loads of individuals in the last 10 years, the former concrete desert of St.Marx has developed into a blooming creative and defiant cultural&political landscape. Now all of this is supposed to budge, for a private eventhall paid for by hundred millions of tax money.

We will not accept this, and we know: In this struggle for non-commercial self-organized spaces we are not alone, we are many! On this evening we will show selected clips from the place and talk about future strategies to oppose this capitalist idiocy.
