French Leftism Day 2| Counter-Repression, Autonomy and Antifascism
2nd evening of a three-part series of talks and film screenings on social movements and antifascism in France!
This second session is a great opportunity to explore the theories and practices of some French activist organizations. You’ll get a clearer picture of social movements and antifascism in France and the different forms of struggle to resist state repression.
We’ll also come back to the recent death of a french neo-fascist and the consequences that are still unfolding. What kind of fascist organization did he belong to ? What is the organization whose members are accused of having accidentally killed him ?
1 : Révolution 2023 (EN/DE subs) (40min)
Catch the first part of the documentary on the 2023 movement against the pension reform. A raw example at how we build power and take the streets in some french cities.
2 : Fighting State Repression
We’ll break down our strategy for legal and physical defense. Learn how our anti-repression model - which has spread to many cities - shapes our daily intervention.
3 : The Power of “Assemblies”
What does it mean to organize from below? We’re discussing the art of horizontal and democratical organizing through General Assemblies in both social movements and antifascism.
We will compare these to other french, austrian and german models (Rote Hilfe, OAT, etc.) and discuss their respective limits.
